This Privacy Policy explains how BeatSage ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our desktop application, website at beatsage.ai, and related services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: Email address and name when you create an account or sign in via Google OAuth.
- Waitlist: Email address if you join our waitlist.
- Payment information: Processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We receive your subscription status and billing email from Stripe.
- Support communications: Emails or messages you send to us.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: Tool calls, lesson progress, and feature usage within the BeatSage app. This helps us improve the product and track your learning progress.
- Session cookies: We use session cookies to maintain your login state on beatsage.ai. These are essential for the site to function.
- AI conversation context: Chat messages sent to our cloud AI proxy (Pro and Studio tiers) are processed by third-party AI providers (Anthropic, Google) to generate responses. We log token usage for billing purposes. We do not store the content of your conversations long-term.
Information we do NOT collect
- Audio files: Your music projects, audio recordings, and samples never leave your computer. BeatSage communicates with your DAW locally.
- MIDI content: MIDI patterns are generated and processed locally within the desktop app. They are not transmitted to our servers.
- DAW project files: We have no access to your DAW project files.

4. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
- Waitlist emails: Retained until you unsubscribe or we close the waitlist.
- Usage and billing logs: Retained for up to 12 months for billing disputes and product improvement, then deleted or anonymized.
- Session cookies: Expire after 120 minutes of inactivity.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing emails
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all communications, hashed passwords, and secure token-based authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

BeatSage is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
8. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. The "Effective date" at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
